WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will develop a strong understanding of how people learn and how effective learning experiences are planned, delivered and evaluated. Through a combination of theory and practical application, you will learn how to design inclusive learning sessions, communicate effectively with parents and professionals, adapt learning to meet individual needs, carry out risk assessments and evaluate assessment data. The course also develops valuable transferable skills in communication, decision-making, problem-solving and planning, preparing you for further study and careers within education and related sectors.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is through a combination of externally assessed examinations and internally assessed practical coursework. 40% of the qualification is assessed through end-of-course assessments, while 60% is assessed through practical, applied and project-based tasks (Non-Examined Assessment). This approach allows you to demonstrate both your understanding of educational theory and your ability to apply your knowledge in realistic education and learning contexts.
WHAT OTHER SUBJECTS GO WITH IT?
We recommend studying Education V level as part of the V level programme which combines the V level with A levels in two of English Language, PE, Psychology or Sociology. The entrance requirements for this programme are 7 or more GCSE passes at Grade 5, equivalent or better including English and Maths. Entrance requirements for the each A level studied must also be met.
Education V level can also be studied alongside other A level subjects of your choice. If choosing other subjects the general entrance requirements of 8 or more GCSE passes at Grade 5 applies alongside the subject specific entrance requirements.
WHERE COULD IT LEAD ME?
This qualification provides an excellent foundation for a wide range of higher education courses and career pathways. Students may progress to degree programmes in Education Studies, Primary Education, Early Childhood Studies, Childhood and Youth Studies, or combined courses such as Education with Sociology or Psychology. It can also support entry into apprenticeships and employment within the education and childcare sectors. The transferable skills developed throughout the course are valued across many professions that involve communication, planning, leadership and working with others.
